Cannabis Seized - Katherine

Police

Northern Territory Police have seized over six kilograms of cannabis in Katherine today.

Detective’s from the Northern Substance Abuse Intelligence Desk (S.A.I.D.) and Northern Investigation Section with the assistance of Narcotic Detector Dogs from the Dog Operations Unit executed drug search warrants on two houses, one in Katherine East and one in the town’s North.

Detective Senior Sergeant Ian Kennon said two men are currently in Police custody and are assisting with enquiries.

“Police estimate that if the cannabis was sold in Katherine it would have fetched around $345,000 and double that amount if sold in remote communities.

“Police will continue to target the people dealing in these illicit substances in the interest of keeping people safe in our communities.”
