Recruit Squad 1 - 2013 Graduation

Police

Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service welcome 14 graduates into their firefighting ranks this afternoon.

The squad has undergone 17 weeks of intensive training designed to test every aspect of fitness, knowledge and mental attitude.

District Officer Geoffrey Barnes from the Training and Development Command said the recruits have acquitted themselves very well and will be a welcome addition into the NTFRS.

“This squad have all agreed the training was one of the hardest things they have attempted in their lives.

“They have endured early starts, late finishes, constant theory, practical assessment and tough, physical training.

“The course trainers have stated this squad have been excellent, have taken on all challenges to the best of their ability and shown tremendous community spirit.”

District Officer Barnes said the recruits will now complete eight months of probation where they will continue to be set tasks and drills on the job to complete their training.

“Ten of the recruits will remain in the Top End with the remaining four heading to the centre.

“I very much look forward to welcoming Recruit Squad 1-2013 into the NTFRS at the graduation ceremony this afternoon.”

The next Recruit Squad will begin their training in February next year.
