A 19-year-old man will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today charged in relation to the alleged sexual assault of 21-year-old woman.

Detective Sergeant Glenn Leafe from the Sex Crimes Unit said the alleged offender sexually assaulted the woman in a park in Wood Street at around 2am, Monday 6 January.

“He was arrested by Police a short time later and charged with:

Make threats to kill

Deprivation of liberty

Sexual intercourse without consent

Aggravated assault.

“He has been remanded in custody to appear in Court this morning.”
