Two Youths Charged - Alice Springs

Detectives from Strike Force Vega have charged two male youths in relation to a number of unlawful entries in Alice Springs this year.

Detective Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips said the youths, aged 11 and 16, allegedly unlawfully entered a number of residences in the East Side and stole a Ford Fiesta.

“Police later located the vehicle and arrested the pair a short time later.

The two youths have been charged with:

Aggravated unlawful entry (3)

Damaging property (3)

Unlawfully using motor vehicle (2)

Stealing (3)

Following on from the enquiries undertaken by Strike Force Vega, one of the same youths was arrested today in connection to a break-in at a local bicycle shop.

“This youth has been arrested today for unlawfully entering the bicycle shop during the early morning hours of Tuesday 7 January, where two BMX bikes valued at $1000 were stolen,” Detective Senior Sergeant Phillips said.

The youth has been further charged with the following offences relating to the bike thefts:

Aggravated unlawful entry

Stealing

Damage to property

Both youth will appear in the Alice Springs Youth Justice Court tomorrow.
