Strike Force Halberd Make Over 280 Arrests

Detectives from Strike Force Halberd have made over 280 arrests as part of an operation targeting domestic violence in Alice Springs.

Detective Sergeant Jonathon Beer said during the first six months of the operation members made 287 arrests in relation to 774 domestic violence offences.

“Police have also issued 26 summonses, served 180 Domestic Violence Orders and prepared 600 prosecution files.

In the past week Police have made a further 14 arrests including:

A 32-year-old man arrested for the aggravated assault of a 29-year-old woman.

A 23-year-old man arrested for aggravated assault and breaching a Domestic Violence Order against a 24-year-old woman.

A 25-year-old man arrested for aggravated assault, breach of bail (x2) and breach of a Domestic Violence Order against a 24-year-old woman.

“This dedicated Strike Force is committed to reducing domestic violence in Alice Springs and Police will continue to work with their family and community members to bring those responsible to justice.”
