Sexual Assault Charges - Darwin

Northern Territory Police have charged a 49-year-old man with several serious offences following an incident in the rural area on Wednesday night.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Glenn Leafe from the Sex Crimes Squad said the man was arrested following a call to Police in the early hours of Thursday 16 January.

“We have two female victims alleging the man had threatened them before sexually assaulting them.

“The women have escaped from his house and sought refuge at a neighbouring house."

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Leafe said the man has been charged with three counts of sexual intercourse without consent, two counts of deprivation of liberty, two counts of recklessly endangering life, three counts of threat to kill a person and one count of aggravated assault.

He was remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court today.
