Cannabis Plants Seized – Man Charged – Alice Springs

A 39-year-old man has been arrested and charged with drug offences following a seizure in Alice Springs.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Leith Phillips said Detectives from the Drug and Intelligence Unit executed a search warrant on a home in Braitling yesterday (Thursday) afternoon.

“During the search, Police located an elaborate hydroponics growing operation, secreted in a room within the garage,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Phillips said.

“Police have seized in excess of 40 cannabis plants of various sizes plus a trafficable quantity of loose cannabis plant material.

“It was clear to Police this person has been cultivating cannabis for some time.

“Police see the damage this dangerous drug causes within our communities daily. This has been an excellent example of Police working together with the community to help keep people safe.”

He has been charged with:

Cultivate a commercial quantity of cannabis

Supplying a dangerous drug

Possess a trafficable quantity of cannabis.

He will appear in the Alice Springs Court at a later date.
