Strike Force Vega continues to crack down on property crime in Alice Springs making 40 arrests during the first five weeks of 2014.

Acting Commander Brent Warren said in addition to the arrests made, Police have cleared 306 property related offences and issued 12 summonses.

“Since the inception of Strike Force Vega in February 2013, there has been a significant decrease in the number of unlawful entries across Alice Springs.

“There were 56 unlawful entries in Alice Springs during January, almost half the number of unlawful entries for the same month last year.

“Property related crime in Alice Springs has also remained at a four year low for the past seven months.

“This is an ongoing operation and Police are committed to enhancing community confidence by reducing the incidents of property related crime.

“Members of the community can also help by ensuring your homes and vehicles are locked and store your car keys and valuable items in a safe place.”
