Casuarina Police are currently investigating reports of an abduction in the Northern Suburbs today.
Police received reports of suspicious activity involving an individual being forced into a vehicle in Casuarina at around 12.15pm.
General Duties, TRG and other specialist units saturated the area and established roadblocks cordoning the Northern Suburbs.
The vehicle of interest was apprehended a short time later and all occupants have been interviewed.
Superintendent Jody Nobbs of Casuarina Station thanked the public for their assistance, which enabled police to act in a prompt manner.
“Fortunately in this instance the incident is not as initially reported and was quite clearly a hoax.
“Irresponsible behaviour of this nature drains valuable police resources, and is both a safety concern and an inconvenience to the public, particularly due to traffic disruptions.”
Investigations are continuing and charges are yet to be laid.
