Escaped prisoner apprehended by Serious Crime Squad - Palmerston

Police

Detectives from the Serious Crime Squad have arrested one of the missing prisoners who escaped from the Darwin Correctional Facility on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old escapee was located at an address in Palmerston earlier today hiding inside a cardboard box in a cupboard.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Schiller commended the efforts of Serious Crime Squad Detectives.

“It is a great result to recapture this prisoner without incident and I would like to thank those involved for the swift apprehension.

“Graham Cowen remains outstanding, and the search for him continues.

“I strongly encourage Mister Cowen to consider his options, and present himself to Police.

“I ask the public to be on the lookout for Graham Cowen, but treat him with caution.

“If sighted do not approach him, but contact Police immediately.

“Harbouring an escaped prisoner is an offence taken very seriously, and will result in charges,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Schiller.

Anyone with information relating to the whereabouts of Graham Cowen is asked to contact Police immediately on 131 444.

The recaptured prisoner is now in the custody of Police and will be charged with escape lawful custody.
