Operation Bufori Wraps Up With Fifth Arrest - Darwin

Police

Drug and Organised Crime Squad Detectives have wrapped up Operation Bufori with the arrest of a 45-year-old man in Palmerston yesterday.

Officer in Charge of the Drug and Organised Crime Squad, Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Board, said the operation had targeted the sale and distribution of methamphetamines across the Darwin, Palmerston and rural areas.

“Operation Bufori commenced in January this year resulting in five persons being arrested and charged with a total of 17 drug offences, 109 grams of methamphetamine, MDMA, LSD, cannabis and a 2013 model Commodore have been seized.

“A total of $22,900 cash was also seized during the operation.

“Three females aged 55, 30 and 25 and a male aged 35 are currently before the courts on methamphetamine charges.”

Detective Senior Sergeant Board said the supply of illicit drugs in our community will continue to be a major target for Northern Territory Police and in particular the Drug and Organised Crime Squad.

“The people involved in the supply of methamphetamine have no conscience for the catastrophic impact that it has on the user and their families.

“Suppliers only care about making a quick profit, so we intend seizing their product, their money and their vehicles and then placing them before the courts.”

Detective Senior Sergeant Board said the public can assist Police by reporting suspected drug activity to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or by calling the Police Assistance Line on 131 444.
