Police

Drug and Organised Crime Squad Detectives have arrested three Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) members, who will be appearing in court today.

Officer in Charge of the Drug and Organised Crime Squad Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Board said Detectives from Strike Force Lincoln located the first of the three gang members, a 23-year-old, at a resort in the Northern Suburbs on Monday 31 March.

“A search warrant was executed with Detectives seizing approximately 163 grams of methamphetamine. He was charged with supply and possession of a commercial quantity of methamphetamine,” Detective Senior Sergeant Board said.

A 37-year-old Darwin based gang member was located later the same day at a residence in Darwin. During the search of the property Detectives located numerous mobile phones, a quantity of cash and electronic devices.

He was charged with supply and possess a commercial quantity of methamphetamine and aggravated robbery charges. Police will allege he extorted a victim whilst armed with a firearm to gain possession of a motor vehicle.

On Tuesday 1 April a 40-year-old Sydney based gang member was apprehended at a car dealership, prior to him attempting to flee the Territory.

He was charged with supply a commercial quantity of methamphetamine and possess tainted property.

“The Drug and Organised Crime Squad’s Strike Force Lincoln are a cohesive and committed team who will continue to target gang members and their associates in the Northern Territory.

“Members and associates of these OMCGs are thugs that have no respect for the law or our community. It is well documented that these gangs are involved in the production and supply of amphetamines, serious frauds, money laundering, extortion and prostitution,” Detective Senior Sergeant Board said.

All three men were remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court today and further arrests are anticipated.
