Strike Force Trident Arrest Five - Darwin

Detectives from Strike Force Trident have arrested five people over the weekend following a range of property offences in Darwin and Palmerston.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said two males aged 19 and 21 allegedly entered a residence in The Narrows and stole a Holden Commodore on Saturday afternoon.

“The pair allegedly drove the vehicle to a resident in Ludmilla and stole two televisions, a camera and a laptop valued at $2,000.

“The two men were arrested by Police a short time later and the stolen items were recovered.

“The 19-year-old was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, drive unlicensed, drive a defected motor vehicle, enter building with intent to commit offence and stealing.

“The 21-year-old was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, enter a building with intent to commit offence and stealing.

“Both men will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court on 14 April.

“In a separate incident Strike Force Trident arrested a 16-year-old male for allegedly breaking into a number of vehicles and stealing property from inside them.

“The youth allegedly entered several unit complex car parks in Bayview and Parap between 30 March and 1 April.

“He was charged with 57 offences including trespass (x24), damage to property (x17) and stealing (x16). He was remanded to appear in court tomorrow, Tuesday 8 April.”

Strike Force Trident also arrested a further two youths on the weekend in relation to property related crimes:

- A 14-year-old male was charged with damage to property and trespass for allegedly breaking into a vehicle in Wagaman.

- A 16-year-old female was summoned to appear in court charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle for allegedly stealing a Honda CRV wagon in Palmerston.

“It is once again a timely reminder for people who are heading away during the Easter holidays to ensure their homes and vehicles are locked and personal belongings are stored in a safe place,” Detective Senior Sergeant Stringer said.

“It only takes a moment for opportunistic thieves to take advantage of an unlocked door.
