Detectives from Strike Force Trident have seized firearms and drugs after a number of search warrants in Stuart Park and Winnellie uncovered two clandestine laboratories on Friday.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said Police located a Class A clandestine laboratory in Stuart Park.
“Police also located and seized a 410 single barrel shotgun, a Winchester 30/30 lever action rifle mobile phones, a commercial quantity of methamphetamine and 1000 pseudoephedrine tablets inside a vehicle.
“A search warrant at a second residence in Stuart Park resulted in 500 pseudoephedrine tablets being seized.
Four men were arrested and charged with the following offences:
A 39-year-old man was charged with:
Possess firearm whilst unlicensed
Fail to meet storage requirements
Possess ammunition without a permit/licence
Possess methamphetamine
Possess poison
Possess precursor to dangerous drug.
A 48-year-old was charged with possess precursor for dangerous drug.
A 33 and 34-year-old were charged with:
Possess precursor to dangerous drug (x2)
Possess schedule 1 drug – commercial quantity
Produce methamphetamine – commercial quantity
Supply methamphetamine – commercial quantity
Possess article to manufacture drug.
They will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today.
“Acting on information Police conducted search warrant at motel in Winnellie and located a Class B clandestine laboratory and a quantity of pseudoephedrine under extraction in a Pyrex bowl.
Four more males aged 18, 22, 26 and 34 were arrested and charged with:
Possess precursor to dangerous drug
Produce methamphetamine – commercial quantity
Supply methamphetamine – commercial quantity
Possess article to manufacture drug
They will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today.
“These people are only interested in turning a profit, the potential dangers inherent with setting up clandestine drug labs in suburban apartments and motel rooms are huge.” Senior Sergeant Stringer said.
"The Northern Territory Police are committed to identifying, locating and prosecuting those involved in the manufacture and distribution of illicit drugs.
