Last month a 25 year old Police Officer from Katherine was suspended from duty following a criminal complaint arising from their off duty conduct.

Following further investigation into the matter by the Professional Standards Command, Northern Territory Police has issued the officer with a Notice to Appear in Darwin Magistrates Court on 21 May 2014.

The charges relate to the following offences:

    Aggravated assault (cause harm) pursuant to section 188(2) of the Criminal Code

    Violent disorder pursuant to section 47AA of the Summary Offences Act
