Police have seized over 180 litres of alcohol during an operation targeting the supply of alcohol into remote communities.

Superintendent Kris Evans said Police conducted the operation in Milikapiti and Pirlangimpi over the weekend.

“Police apprehended a vehicle at Pickertaramoor and located and seized four litres of cask wine (x2) a bottle a wine and three cans of beer.

“Two men aged 34 and 41 were issued Liquor Infringement Notices.

“Police also conducted checks on Purnelli Beach and located and seized 15 cooler bags containing 400 cans of beer, two litres of cask wine, a bottle of spirits and a mobile phone.

If sold in the community the alcohol could have fetched around $4,000.

“Police will continue to target alcohol traffickers and warn those who choose to engage in this unlawful activity that they will be caught,” Superintendent Evans said.
