Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service, Police and St John Ambulance personnel have responded to a unit fire in The Narrows early this afternoon.

Detective Superintendent Clint Sims from Serious Crime Squad said Emergency Services responded to the call at about 3.15pm after smoke was reported coming from a unit at Fenton Flats, The Narrows.

“On attendance Firefighters entered the unit and located an infant and despite the best efforts of Emergency Responders the infant has tragically died at the scene.

Investigations are continuing into the cause of the fire.

A report will now be prepared for the coroner.
