Southern Investigation Detectives have charged a 19-year-old man in relation to the alleged sexual assault of two women in Alice Springs in May 2012.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Malley said Police allege the man, who was 17 at the time, and two co-offenders robbed and sexually assaulted the two women who were asleep inside their vehicle.

The 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged with a number of offences including:

Sexual intercourse without consent (x21)

Aggravated unlawful entry

Unlawful use of a motor vehicle

Aggravated robbery

Firearm offences

The man remains in custody and will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court on 24 July 2014.
