Police are calling for witnesses after an injured man was found on Gardens Hill Crescent by a member of the public.

Senior Sergeant John Worrall of the Major Crash Investigation Section said Police became aware of the man’s injuries following notification from his treating doctor at Royal Darwin Hospital.

“The 45-year-old man was found at around 7am on Tuesday morning before being conveyed to hospital by ambulance.

“The man remains in a serious condition having sustained injuries possibly caused by being hit by a vehicle.

“While the Police investigation considers a number of possibilities, anyone with information is urged to contact us immediately.

“Ask yourself, were you in the vicinity of Gardens Hill Crescent on Monday night or early Tuesday morning? Did you hear or see anything unusual?

“Can you provide information on this man’s whereabouts prior to sustaining the injuries?

“Do you have any information at all which may assist Police with this investigation?

“The man is described to be of Aboriginal appearance and was wearing dark grey trousers and a white shirt when he was located.
