A 29-year-old man has been remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court today, charged with weapon and drug offences.

Detective Superintendent Clint Sims said the man was arrested following a complaint from a security guard in Palmerston.

“Police will allege the 29-year-old man threatened the security guard at a Palmerston business when he was refused entry.

“Police are investigating allegations the man returned to the premises a short time later armed with a weapon.”

Detective Superintendent Sims said the man was arrested at a Moil address on Friday.

“Police executed a search warrant at the residence and allegedly found a loaded, sawn-off .22 calibre rifle, ammunition and an extendable baton.

“A trafficable quantity of LSD and some cannabis was also located.

“As a result of the items discovered a 23-year-old woman was also arrested at the residence.

“She has been charged with unlawfully possess a firearm, possess ammunition without permit and possess cannabis and has been bailed to appear on August 11.

“The 29-year-man has been charged with aggravated assault, threaten with a weapon, possess prohibited weapon and possess trafficable amount of Lysergic Acid.”
