Strike Force Viridian – Eight Months On

Police

Eight months after the launch of Strike Force Viridian, Officers have made a total of 248 arrests for domestic and family violence related offences in the Darwin region.

Detective Senior Sergeant Neil Hayes said the strike force of dedicated Officers has also laid 586 charges and submitted 339 prosecution files since the operation began in November last year.

“Strike force members have also served 113 Domestic Violence Orders and issued 77 Alcohol Protection Orders,” Detective Senior Sergeant Hayes said.

“We continue to strive to provide a high level investigative response to domestic and family violence related crime in a bid to reduce violence against women and children.

“Police urge anyone who may be a victim of domestic violence, or anyone who may be a witness or even suspect this type of crime is being committed, to contact Police on 131 444, Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

“Remember; always call Triple Zero ‘000’ in an emergency.”
