Northern Territory Police have taken a 63-year-old man into custody following a firearm incident in Palmerston overnight.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Karl Day said a neighbourhood dispute escalated following a noise complaint just after midnight last night.

“Our investigations to date have revealed the man discharged a shotgun after becoming frustrated with the neighbours.

“The man left the scene shortly after.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Day said the man handed himself into Police shortly after 10am this morning.

“He is cooperating with Detectives.

“Police have recovered the shotgun and the man is currently being interviewed by Detectives from the Serious Crime Squad.

“Investigations into this incident are continuing and Police ask anyone with information to contact them on 131 444 or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
