Firearm Incident - Charges Laid - Palmerston

Northern Territory Police from the Serious Crime Squad have charged a 63-year-old man with firearm offences and aggravated assault following an incident in Gray, Palmerston in the early hours of July 29.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Karl Day said the man handed himself in to Police through his lawyer.

“The man assisted Police in recovering the firearm allegedly used in the incident.

“He has been charged with discharging a firearm, possess and use a firearm while unlicensed, fail to meet storage requirements, possess ammunition without licence and possess unregistered firearm.

“He also faces two counts of aggravated assault.”

The man was bailed to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on September 11.
