Drugs Seized - Darwin Airport

A 24-year-old Victoria woman will be appearing in Darwin Magistrates Court today charged with drug offences.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Justin Bentley from the Drug and Organised Crime Squad said the offender came to the attention of Police after Drug Detector Dog April provided a positive reaction to her during a random screening of passengers on an incoming flight from Melbourne.

“The offender was apprehended by Police, and upon being searched was found with 38 grams of methamphetamine concealed internally in her body.

“She was arrested and conveyed to Darwin Watch House”.

The offender was charged with:

  • Supply schedule 1 dangerous drug – trafficable
  • Possess schedule 1 dangerous drug – trafficable
  • Use air ticker – obtained with false id

If sold Police estimate the drugs could have fetched a street value of $60,000.
