Bushfire - Shoal Bay

The NT Fire and Rescue Service are currently in attendance at a large bushfire in the Shoal Bay area.

Firefighters from Berrimah, Marrara and Howard Springs Volunteers are currently at the scene undertaking suppression activities.

Bushfires NT are again providing air support, with two fixed wing aircraft and one helicopter in the air.

District Officer Ian Lockley from the Community Fire Safety Command advises residents to take precautions against the smoke.

“Heavy smoke is currently being experienced in the Vanderlin Drive and McMillans Road area, and we urge residents to keep their windows and doors closed until the smoke dissipates.

“There are currently no road blocks in place, however we urge the public to avoid the area if possible, drive with extreme caution, put your headlights on and follow all directions given by emergency services personnel.
