A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged following an aggravated assault in Palmerston overnight.

Detective Senior Sergeant Tony Henrys said it is alleged the 23-year-old man attended a home on Zenith Circuit in Woodroffe at around 1am.

“It is alleged the man entered the unlocked residence and assaulted a 31-year-old male as he slept.

“The offender, who was known to the victim, fled the scene and was arrested a within a short time in Palmerston.

“He has been charged with aggravated assault and criminal damage and bailed to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on 22 September.
