Operation Roam - Crime Stoppers 20 Most Wanted

Police

Crime Stoppers helps solve a crime every 1.7 hours in Australia, thanks to our always-vigilant community.

Following the success of Operation Roam in 2013, Crime Stoppers, together with State and Territory Police are once again launching Operation Roam and need the assistance of the Australian public to identify Crime Stoppers 20 Most Wanted.

Senior Sergeant, Brett Prowse from the Operational and Field Intelligence Section of the NT Police Force, and the lead coordinator for the 2014 Operation, said he hopes that all Territorians keep their eyes out for these wanted persons as they are alleged to have committed serious offences, many of which impact on the safety of our communities and police seek your support to put them before the courts.

“Last year, thanks to the overwhelming support of Communities across Australia Operation Roam resulted in nine arrests, and we hope that the community will once again assist law enforcement agencies to help locate these persons.

“Crime Stoppers have identified 20 Most Wanted who have allegedly committed offences across Australia and there is a chance some have relocated to the Northern Territory,” he said.

On 10 January 2013, it is alleged that Gary O’Neill robbed a female victim using violence in Darwin City. He was arrested and later given bail. He then failed to attend court and a warrant is in existence for his arrest.

In July 2013 it is alleged Nathan Glover was involved in a serious assault in Berkeley, New South Wales and it is believed he had worked up until April 2014 in Yulara in the NT.

Between 2009-2011 it is alleged 54 year old Andrew Bell was involved in deceptions worth more than $100,000, assaults and other thefts in Maryborough, Victoria.  Bell has been seen travelling with a woman and driving a green 1999 Nissan Patrol towing a white, 2004 Jayco Caravan.  He has previously been sighted staying in caravan parks in both Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

“There is a wealth of untapped community information out there and police need the eyes and ears of the community to help make Australia a safer place.”

“You, the community, are your own first line of defence and the best weapon you can use is your phone - If you recognise any one of these fugitives, do not approach them but call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,” Senior Sergeant Prowse said.

This national operation follows the international success of operation INFRA RED, in which Crime Stoppers and Police in Australia and around the world coordinated a global fugitive hunt with great success thanks to members of the public who decided they could make a difference.
