A 32-year-old man has been arrested following the assault of a bus driver in Karama this afternoon.

Territory Duty Superintendent Louise Jorgensen said that the man, a passenger on the bus, allegedly punched the 67-year-old driver several times.

“A number of passengers came to the aid of the driver and the man was initially restrained by passengers until Police arrived.

“The driver has been transported to Royal Darwin Hospital and is currently receiving treatment for his injuries.”

The alleged offender has been taken into custody and is facing a number of charges.
