Drug Charges - Alice Springs

Police

Northern Territory Police from the Southern Substance Abuse Intelligence Desk have arrested three people in relation to the supply of cannabis to remote communities

Detective Sergeant David Hamlyn said the arrests were part of Operation Tickford.

“This ongoing operation has identified a number of criminal networks which Police will allege are exploiting remote communities for financial gain.

“Communities do not tolerate those people who look to profit by distributing illegal substances and Police will continue to target, pursue and prosecute anyone that choses to do so.

A 39-year-old male was arrested in Alice Springs and has been charged with two counts of unlawfully suppling cannabis in an Aboriginal Community and one count of supply cannabis.

He will appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.

A male and female, both aged 38, have been charged with possession and supply of a trafficable quantity of cannabis.

They have been bailed to appear in Alice Springs at a later date.

“Police urge anyone who has information on drug activity to contact 131 444 or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,” Detective Sergeant Hamlyn said.
