Crime Spree - Three Youths Charged - Darwin

Three female youths will appear in Darwin Youth Justice Court today following a $45,000 crime spree across Darwin and Palmerston.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stinger said Police allege a 14 and two 15-year-old females were involved in the theft of several vehicles between 22 and 24 September.

“Police allege the 14 and 15-year-old stole a Toyota Corolla from a residence in Nakara at around 12:30am on Monday.

“The following day the three youths allegedly stole a Holden Rodeo from a residence in Marrara.

“Early Wednesday morning the youths allegedly also stole a Suzuki Swift and Subaru Impreza from a residence in Marrara.

“Police have since recovered all four vehicles with around $1,000 worth of damage caused to the Corolla after it crashed into the fence of a Palmerston residence. The Holden Rodeo was also damaged with graffiti.”

The three youths were arrested have been charged with a range of property and traffic offences.

Detectives from Strike Force Trident have arrested a further three youths this morning. They remain in Police custody and are assisting with enquiries.

“These vehicles were stolen and used to race each other at high speeds,” Detective Senior Sergeant Stringer said.

“This type of offending is extremely dangerous and it is lucky that nobody has been seriously injured.”
