Strike Force Vega Detectives have charged a second man in relation to the unlawful entry of an Alice Springs hotel.
Detective Acting Superintendent Peter Malley said it is alleged a number of rooms were unlawfully entered between Sunday 28 and Monday 29 September and around $12,000 worth of property was stolen.
“Police recovered a majority of the stolen property from a guests room on Monday. Police also executed a search warrant at a residence in Sadadeen yesterday.
“During the search, Police located and seized stolen items including power tools and a television. Police also seized a shotgun, a knuckle duster, an expandable baton, a laser pointing device, a trafficable quantity of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a quantity of fireworks.”
A 26-year-old man was arrested and charged with:
- Receive stolen property
- Possess trafficable quantity of methamphetamine
- Possess a controlled weapon
- Possess a prohibited weapon (x2)
- Possess a prohibited firearm
- Possess a firearm while unlicensed
- Fail to secure firearm
- Possess fireworks outside approved period
He was refused bail and will appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court today.
