Drugs Seized - Darwin

Detectives from the Drug and Organised Crime Squad have charged a 50-year-old man with drug offences following a traffic apprehension in Berry Springs.

Detective Senior Sergeant Justin Bentley from the Drug and Organised Crime Squad said Police apprehended a vehicle on Finn Road at around 9:30pm on Wednesday.

“Police conducted a search of the vehicle and seized four kilograms of cannabis.

“The driver was arrested and charged with possess and supplying a commercial quantity of cannabis.

“He was remanded in custody to appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today.

“In a separate incident Detectives also seized two grams of methamphetamine following a search warrant at an apartment in Coconut Grove.

“Police also seized drug paraphernalia and around $7,000 in cash.”

A 35-year-old man was arrested and charged with:

Possess methamphetamine – trafficable quantity

Supply methamphetamine

Receive property

Possess thing to administer drug

Administer dangerous drug to self.

He will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today.

"The NT Police are striving to reduce the amount of dangerous drugs that reach our streets. Whether it is cannabis, methamphetamine or other unlawful drugs, they all have a detrimental impact on our community,” Detective Senior Sergeant Bentley said.
