Youth Charged for Assaulting Police Officer - Malak

Police

Strike Force Trident Detectives have charged a 14-year-old male after he allegedly assaulted a Police Officer.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said Police attended a residence in Malak yesterday afternoon to arrest a 14-year-old female youth for breach of bail.

“Police allege the male youth armed himself with a knife and attempted to assault a Police Officer.

“The youth was disarmed and arrested without incident. Fortunately the officer did not sustain any injuries.”

He was charged with recklessly endangering serious harm and assault Police (x2).

He was remanded in custody and will appear in Darwin Youth Justice Court on Friday, 24 October.

“This highlights the dangers Police Officers face even while conducting routine duties. It was only through the vigilant actions of the boy’s mother that a possibly tragic event was defused,” Detective Senior Sergeant Stringer said.
