Stealing with Violence - Public Assistance Sought - Darwin

Detectives from the Serious Crime Squad are investigating two separate stealing with violence incidents that occurred in Darwin this week.

Senior Constable First Class Corey Brown said a 27-year-old man was walking along Lambell Terrace near Cullen Bay at around 10:00pm Sunday, 26 October when he was approached by two men in a vehicle.

“Police allege the offender threatened the victim and stole his bag before fleeing the scene in an older model silver/grey sedan.

“The male driver is described as being of Caucasian appearance, medium build, approximately 180cm tall, between 30 and 35 years old and clean shaven. He was wearing a white cap, three quarter length beige pants and a light coloured short sleeve collar button up shirt.

“The male passenger is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 176cm tall, solid build with bald or very short hair.”

Police are also investigating a second stealing with violence incident that occurred at around 10:30pm Tuesday 28 October near Cullen Bay.

“It is alleged a 50-year-old man was walking along Kahlin Avenue near Burnett Place when he was approached by a man in a dark coloured sedan,” Senior Constable First Class Brown said.

“The offender threatened the victim and attempted to steal his bag. The victim refused and the offender returned to his vehicle and left the scene.

“The offender is described as being 182cm tall and with a skinny build. He was wearing a short sleeved shirt and shorts.”

“Police urge anyone who may have witnessed these incidents or anyone with information to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
