Police are calling for public assistance following an alleged assault and attempted robbery of a 65-year-old male in Moulden overnight.

Detective Sergeant Mark Bland from Strike Force Trident said it is alleged the man was assaulted after responding to a knock at his front door.

“At approximately 7:50pm the two offenders have unlawfully entered the Moulden Terrace property and allegedly assaulted the victim.

“Police will allege one offender searched the property while the other restrained the victim.

“Both offenders have left empty handed a short time later.

“The victim was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital and has since been discharged.

“The offenders are described as males of aboriginal appearance, aged between 35-40 years, around 170-175cm tall and of solid build.

“Both men were wearing black zip up hoodies, dark pants, and balaclavas.

“We urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who saw two men in the area matching this description to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000”.
