Alleged fraud offender arrested - Darwin

Police

Detectives from the Fraud Squad have arrested a 45-year-old woman in the suburb of Winnellie this morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Clint Sims said the Detectives formed part of an inter-agency taskforce investigating offences committed against the ‘Pensioner and Carer Concessions Scheme’ administered by the Department of Health.

“A search warrant was executed on the business premise of the woman this morning.

“Detectives have seized a large amount of documentation and computer equipment.

“Police will allege documents were altered and signatures forged to gain benefit by deception.

“Police will allege in excess of $20,000 had been obtained illegally,” Detective Sims said.

The taskforce is continuing to investigate and charges are anticipated.
