Police

Nhulunbuy Police are requesting public assistance to identify a bicycle in connection to several alleged offences in the town.

Detective Senior Constable Luke Dalgliesh said a 23-year-old male had been arrested and charged but further information was still needed.

“The man has been charged with attempted sexual assault, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing, damage to property and driving unlicensed.

“Anyone who recognises this bicycle is asked to contact Police on 131 444.

Detective Senior Constable Dalgliesh said Police were continuing to investigate the incidents that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning, 18 November.

“We had a female arrive at the Gove District Hospital at 2.00 am saying she had been assaulted by an unknown male.

“She said she was able to fight him off and he ran away.

“We believe the man has then stolen a 20 seater bus before crashing it at Ski Beach.

“He was arrested at the wheel of another alleged stolen car a short time later,” Detective Senior Constable Dalgliesh said.

The man was remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on 21 November 2014.
