At approximately 3:40pm on 29 November it is alleged a 29-year-old male stole a Toyota Hilux from Somerville Gardens, Parap.

The male drove the vehicle and allegedly lost control crashing into the fence at Fannie Bay Raceway causing damage to the fence and significant damage to the vehicle.

The male attempted to flee the scene but was arrested a short time later.

He has been charged with aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle, driving a motor vehicle while disqualified, driving under the influence of alcohol, failing to stop after a crash, possessing equipment to administer a dangerous drug and failing to provide a blood sample.

He was given conditional bail to appear at Darwin Magistrates Court on the 6th of January 2015.
