Two charged with aggravated assault - Palmerston

Two women aged 30 and 52 have been charged in relation to an aggravated assault which occurred in Palmerston on December 8.

Detective Senior Sergeant Karl Day from the Serious Crime Squad said it is alleged the two women approached a 41-year-old woman as she waited for a bus on Chung Wah Terrace in the Palmerston CBD at about 10.30pm.

“The woman was allegedly assaulted with a hammer before the two women fled the scene in a nearby parked car,” Detective Senior Sergeant Day said.

“Police and St John Ambulance members attended the scene and conveyed the victim to Royal Darwin Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.”

The alleged offenders have been charged with unlawfully causing serious harm and armed with an offensive weapon at night.

They were remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court today.
