Alice Springs Police this morning arrested the 22-year-old male who escaped custody on Monday night.

Detective Sergeant Leith Phillips from the Tactical Investigation Squad said a member of the public contacted Police yesterday afternoon, having sighted the man north of Alice Springs.

“Police searched the area throughout the night and with the assistance of sharp-eyed CCTV Operators, located the man hiding on the roof of a building in the Todd Mall.

“He was arrested and taken into custody at around 3:10am today.

“He will be interviewed by Detectives later today and put before the court.

“Police would like to thank members of the public who provided invaluable information which led to the arrest of this violent prison escapee.”
