Property Crime Arrests - Katherine

Katherine Police members have arrested seven people in relation to a series of property crime incidents in the Katherine Central Business District.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Jeremy Brunton said the seven youths had allegedly contributed to a crime spree in Katherine from 11 December to 15 December 2014.

“The alleged offenders responsible for the damage and theft in 12 businesses were aged between 11 to 19-years-old.

“The great work and dedication by Katherine Investigators enabled the quick arrests of the people responsible.

“Our members will continue to work tirelessly to keep our community safe.”

The alleged offenders have been charged with 18 counts of unlawful entry, 9 counts of stealing, 4 counts of criminal damage, 3 counts of trespass, 6 counts of receiving stolen goods and 2 counts of interfering with a motor vehicle.

The 19-year-old male has been remanded to appear in Katherine Magistrates Court this afternoon.

Investigations are ongoing in relation to the six youths.

Police ask members of the Katherine Community to keep their eyes open and to report any suspicious behaviour to Police on 131 444.
