Strike Force Romulus – Domestic Violence Arrests

Strike Force Romulus members have wrapped up a two day operation focussing on domestic violence offenders and outstanding warrants in Alice Springs.

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said Police achieved great results, including two arrests in relation to two separate domestic violence incidents.

“A 39-year-old woman has been charged with unlawfully cause serious harm and served with a Domestic Violence Order after she assaulted a 55-year-old woman in Amoonguna Community.

“The alleged offender was arrested on Monday and has been remanded to appear on Wednesday 25 February 2015.

“In a separate incident a 36-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault and armed with an offensive weapon after he assaulted a 33-year-old woman.

“The man was also served a Domestic Violence Order and will appear in court today.

“The majority of assaults in the Territory remain domestic and family violence related and Police are committed to ensure offenders are held accountable for their actions and placed before the courts,” said Detective Superintendent Brent Warren.

“Domestic violence will not be tolerated and we continue to encourage members of the public to take a stand against this unacceptable behaviour and report all acts of domestic violence to the Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
