Police are calling for witnesses following an alleged hit and run of a 19 year-old man in the early hours of this morning.

Acting Senior Sergeant Mark Casey from the Major Crash Investigation Section said the incident occurred on Tiger Brennan Drive between the intersections of Gothenburg Crescent and Gonzales Road in Stuart Park. The incident occurred between the hours of 3:00 am to 4:30 am.

“The victim who was riding a bicycle appears to have been struck by a vehicle which has then left the scene and not contacted emergency services.

“The victim was found lying on the side of the road with serious head injuries.

“He currently remains in Royal Darwin Hospital in a serious and critical condition.

“Major Crash investigators are currently conducting investigations to identify the vehicle involved.

“Police are urging anyone who may have seen the incident or have any information about the vehicle involved to call Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000".
