Two Charged with Drug Offences - Nhulunbuy

Two people are to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court tomorrow following a drug seizure in Nhulunbuy on the weekend.

Acting Senior Sergeant George Watkinson said Police apprehended a Holden Caprice on Chesterfield Circuit on Saturday night, locating a quantity of methamphetamine and an ‘ice’ pipe. 

“The 29-year-old male driver was arrested. Police conducted searches on a number of properties in the town and located further drug paraphernalia and a number of clip seal bags containing a small amount of methamphetamine,” Acting Senior Sergeant Watkinson said. 

“A 28-year-old woman was found to be in possession of an amount of the drug. She was charged with possess methamphetamine (trafficable), supply methamphetamine, administer dangerous drug to self, possess thing to administer dangerous drug. 

“The 29-year-old male was charged with possess methamphetamine (trafficable), supply methamphetamine, administer dangerous drug to self and drive with license plates calculated to deceive.” 

In total Police seized approximately 35 grams of methamphetamine, which has the potential street value of $53,000. 

Both have been remanded in custody to appear in court tomorrow, 20 January.
