Property Offence Charges - Darwin

Police

Two male youths aged 15 and 17 and a 24-year-old man will appear in Darwin Court today charged in relation to property offences across Darwin.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said Police allege that two male youths attended a residence in Nightcliff and assaulted a 29-year-old man at around 12:45am on Monday and stole a backpack iPhone and laptop.

“Police allege the two youths also stole four motor vehicles and unlawfully entered six residents across Darwin and Palmerston during the past week.

“The youths stole over $18,000 worth of property and caused substantial damage to two of the stolen vehicles.  Police recovered about $3,000 worth of the stolen property while executing a search warrant on a Johnson residence.

“Police also allege a 24-year-old man stole two motor vehicles. The three males were arrested at a residence in Woodroffe on Tuesday.”

The 15-year-old was charged with:

Aggravated Unlawful Entry (x 6)

Stealing (x6)

Aggravated Unlawful Use of Motor Vehicle (x4)

Criminal Damage (x2)

Trespass

Aggravated Robbery

Drive Unlicensed

The 17-year-old was charged with:

Breach of Bail

Aggravated Unlawful Entry (x6)

Stealing (x6)

Aggravated Unlawful Use of Motor Vehicle (x 4)

Criminal Damage (x2)

Trespass

Aggravated Robbery.

They will appear in the Darwin Youth Justice Court on Friday 30January.

The 24-year-old was charged with aggravated unlawful use of motor vehicle (x2) and was remanded in custody to appear at the Darwin Magistrates Court on Friday 30 January.

Detective Senior Sergeant Stringer said, “We will not tolerate people running around assaulting other people, breaking into houses and stealing cars. If you choose to engage in this type of criminal behaviour you can expect to be arrested and prosecuted.”
