Kava Seized - Galiwinku

Police have seized 29 kilograms of kava following a traffic apprehension in Galiwinku yesterday.

Acting Superintendent David Richardson said Police conducted the search of the vehicle and located 16 bags of kava concealed inside two suitcases.

“Police estimate the value of kava could have fetched around $43,500, if sold in remote communities.

“A 54-year-old man was arrested and charged with possess a commercial quantity of kava.

“He will appear in the local Galiwinku Court on 3 March 2015.
