Aggravated Assault - Alice Springs

Police

A 36-year-old man will appear in Alice Springs Magistrates Court following the alleged aggravated assault of a 36-year-old woman last year.

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said the offender allegedly struck the woman with a coffee mug and kicked her while she lay on the ground at a residence in Alice Springs on 19 June.

“Police allege the male fled interstate following the assault.

“Detectives from Strike Force Romulus continued their investigation until the alleged offender was located and arrested yesterday.”

He was charged with aggravated assault and will appear in Court today.

“Police will continue to take a zero tolerance approach to violence of any kind.  Safety is everyone’s right and we will hold offenders to account for their actions,” Detective Superintendent Warren said.
