Property Crime Spree - Youth Charged - Alice Springs

Detectives from Strike Force Vega have charged a 17-year-old male following a major property crime spree in Alice Springs last year.

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said the alleged offences took place between January 2014 and January 2015.

“The youth allegedly broke into five houses, trespassed on seven different premises and stole six motor vehicles.

“Police allege the youth also stole around $150 worth of property and vehicles and caused around $25,000 worth of damage.

He was arrested by Police on Friday and charged with:

Unlawful entry – dwelling (x5)

Stealing (x7)

Unlawful use of a motor vehicle (x6)

Drive a motor vehicle unlicensed (x4)

Trespass on an enclosed premises (x7)

Damage to property

Aggravated unlawful use of a motor vehicle

He was remanded in custody and will appear in Alice Springs Youth Justice Court 9 February 2015.
