Domestic Violence Arrest - Alice Springs

Police

Police have arrested a 30-year-old male after hearing a loud disturbance from a neighbouring house while attending another incident.

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said the Officers checked the house out of concern for the occupants after hearing a woman screaming.

“Officers observed injuries on the face of the female and were forced to defend themselves when the male violently resisted Police presence.

“The male has been charged with aggravated assault, assault Police and resist Police in execution of their duty.”

Detective Superintendent Warren said a Domestic Violence Order and an Alcohol Protection Order have also being served on the male.

“Domestic violence will not be tolerated by Police and Strike Force Romulus will continue to actively pursue and prosecute anyone who engages in this unacceptable behaviour.  Everyone has the right to be safe.”

The male was refused bail and will appear in the Alice Springs Magistrate Court today.
