Cannabis Seizure - Gapuwiyak

NT Police have charged four men after seizing 153 grams of cannabis and three bottles of spirits after a search of a vehicle yesterday.

Remote Sergeant Ben Schultz from Ramingining Police said officers from Ramingining, Milingimbi, Gapuwiyak conducted a road block on Arnhem Highway while Bulman Police patrolled Central Arnhem Highway.

“A vehicle was sighted close to the Ramingining turnoff, a search of that vehicle resulted in the seizure 153 grams of cannabis being located which had an estimated value if sold in the remote community of around $15,000.

“Also seized were 2 bottles of vodka and 1 bottle of Jim Beam.

“Police will continue to target drugs and other illegal substances in communities to keep the residents safe from harm and free of exploitation.”

29 -year-old male was charged with:
Possess trafficable quantity of cannabis
Supply trafficable amount of cannabis

He was bailed to appear in Ramingining Court on 1 April

22-year-old male was charged with:
Control liquor in a restricted area

He was bailed to appear in Ramingining Court on 1 April

28-year-old male was issued an infringement notice for:
Control liquor in a restricted area
Possess cannabis

39-year-old male was issued a Notice to Appear for:
Control liquor in a restricted area
Possess cannabis
